Fourteen palliative care organisations from around the world have submitted a response to the consultation on the Global Monitoring Framework on NCDs.
The palliative care organisations, while recognising the existing indicator has limitations and that there are alternative possibilities, very much welcome the inclusion of palliative care as a core indicator and support the retention of the indicator within the framework.
In addition, the organisations endorsed the NCD Alliance submission and particularly highlighted the need for:

A target to be added on access to treatment and in particular the availability of essential medicines and technologies

Reporting on progress to be done every two years, not every 5 years as the document currently suggests
