We have pleasure in inviting hospice and palliative care voting member organisations of the WPCA (see list below) to participate in the governance and development of the Worldwide Palliative Care Alliance by nominating an individual to stand for election as a trustee on the Board.
We are currently seeking nominations from the Asia Pacific region and from the Africa region. One Trustee will be elected from each region. The deadline for nominations is 10 June 2011.
Nominated candidates are required to demonstrate:
1. Proficiency in written and spoken English
2. Be a board member or senior staff member of a voting member organisation of the WPCA (list below)
3. Recognised leadership in their country or region
4. Commitment to the development of hospice and palliative care around the world
Our Board of trustees are responsible for the governance of the organisation by ensuring it fulfils its objectives and adheres to the organisation’s philosophy and values. You can find a role description below.
The individuals listed below are the main contacts for the WPCA voting member organisations and only these individuals are able to confirm nominations and second an individual on behalf of their organisation. Candidates need to be nominated by their own organisation and then seconded by another voting member organisation. Organisations can nominate and second as many individuals as they wish.
Nomination forms and the candidate applications should be sent by 10 June 2011 to Claire Morris at cmorris@thewpca.org. The candidate application form should be completed by the candidate themselves.
Once nominations have been received, the board will approve these and the next step will be to invite all members within the region to vote for their preferred candidate.
